With new-found courage from a woman who believes in his innocence and the help of another outcast, Jack pursues a shadowy Japanese Yakuza crime boss from Seattle to Las Vegas and back, putting himself and all the people he loves in mortal danger.

This book had some interesting plot twists but didn't hold together. The hero goes from being a bookworm type of fellow to being a tough guy, all the while trying to manage his feelings about his deceased wife and carry on being Mr. Mom. I took on some rather unbelievable turns as he steps up to solve the crime and confronts a mob boss. Please they would have wiped him out like a fly in a real situation.Happy ending, love and children and all's well with the crime problem... not very realistic... I think of it as maybe interesting for a teen.

This was a little different than his other books but I enjoyed reading it. He is a good writer and holds your attention.
Was a hard book to put down. Just when you think you know whats going to happen a surprise jumps out. Good Read. Very entertaining and moving.
Really good book, very well written and well developed characters. I'll look for more of his books.

The plot was REALLY slow to take off and I never much liked the main character. He whined way too much. I thought his counseling sessions should have been eliminated, as they didn't advance the plot, and were boring. The subplot with Amy was totally unbelievable. If the book had been tightly edited, it would have been much better.
Most strangely, this looked like a manuscript with editing visible in the middle of the book--strike-throughs, lots of underlining (not highlighting), some repetition of text. The entire book was double-spaced. This formatting made it difficult to read, especially the long stretches of visible editing in the pages. I hope they will clean this up and resend it in the normal book format.
This is the second book I have read by this author and I enjoy his style and suspense. I usually read Connolly or Patterson in this genre but sherer idea figurative language so much better. I kept on reading wanting the husband to find evidence...feeling his terror. Wow
